Introduction to Healthy Skin

Skin, which is the first layer of defense of our body, as the skin is what protects our body from dust, pollution, and many other things. That’s why it is very important to take care of our skin so that it can become healthy skin and continue to protect our body well.

Not only does skin protect us from pollution but it also tells us about various things about our body. For example, if there are white patches on our skin then, it means that there is some problem going on in our stomach. So we can say that skin also works like an indicator for our body problems.

A famous NH dermatologist Dr. Heidi Kong said that, “The skin provides a barrier to protect the body from invasion by bacteria and other possible environmental hazards that can be dangerous for human health”. This means that skin is a barrier that keeps our body safe from outside problems.

In this article, we are going to discuss skincare routines, diets, and many other things to maintain the health of our first layer of defense, Skin.

Morning Skincare Routine

Always do a thorough skin care in the morning as this is going to take care of your skin for the whole day. Do all the necessary skincare steps and that starts with:

  • Cleansing- First cleanse your face with the prescribed face wash and then perform all the other steps.
  • Moisturizing- Then apply a moisturizer or serum that suits your skin and is able to hydrate your skin throughout the day.
  • Protection- As for protecting your skin from the ultraviolet rays of the sun, apply sunscreen which matches your PH level and contain either zinc oxide or avobenzone. You can find them under the category of OTC drugs.

Try to not wash your face for the whole day otherwise you have to repeat all of the above again, and frequent face wash is not good for the skin. Also apply both moisturizer and sunscreen in your neck, hands and any other uncovered body parts..

After all the layering you can now put your makeup on and if you don’t it’s even better.

Healthy Diet for Glowing, Healthy Skin

For your skin to be healthy and glowing, you must consume food that is good for your body which means a balanced diet containing healthy food. As for making and maintaining a healthy skin, you must consume food that is rich in Vitamin C, like all the citrus fruits (oranges, kiwi, pineapple, avocados, etc.), limit eating food that is fried or too oily, avoid fast food as much as you can and also consume foods that are rich in fibre as our skin health is directly related to our guts.

One thing that plays a major role in keeping your skin healthy and hydrated is Water! Drinking water makes your skin glow because it is hydrated and if you do not drink enough water then, your skin will always be dry and dull. Make a habit to drink 6-8 litre water on a daily basis. So your first step towards making your skin healthy should be consuming enough water.

But, taking care of it at night affects your skin health by a lot, because at night your skin is also at rest and regenerates itself. And if you do not take care of it properly then, over time it will become worse and worse.

It is not a difficult task to take care of your skin at night, you can just fo the following three basic steps:

  • Cleaning- Whether you have applied makeup or not, you should always wash your face after coming from outside either with the facewash or cleanser to remove all the pollutants that have stuck to your skin.
  • Moisturizing/ Hydrating- It is the most important part of your skincare routine and for that either use a prescribed serum or moisturizer.
  • Exfoliation- It is the last step in which you use an exfoliant to make your skin brighter as it removes the dead cells and dullness from your skin.Use it 2 times per week.

Now, just take a good sleep without taking any stress or worry.
